Life in Backspace

Sitting in CII and giving writing exam of IELTS I was presented with two options to write: with a pencil or a pen. Since the test was continuing in pencil this far, I decided to let it be.

Was writing in the flow and mistakes popped up. I tend to write as it comes and then come back later to re-read and check for spelling, grammatical and sentence errors. It was then that I realized, it wasn't the same as writing on a computer. Correcting, deleting or even inserting - everything required re-jigging my own writing. And over the years, I am so used to BACKSPACE that it immediately hit my conscience. I used to write my journal - then 2 years down and 3 diaries full, I left it. Question being what do I really write with my hand these days ? Work notes, signing checks - that's it!

Come to think of it, how many of us hand-write letters now? I remember writing letters to my Massi ji (in Canada) and then going to Sector 19 post office to post it. Three weeks it used to take to reach! And if I do comparison now - I am left speechless!! Technology has changed us no doubt, as majority of us spend more time sitting in front of gadgets than having actual human interaction. Click of a button and its done. Click of a button and its undone.

How easy. How convenient. But is life so?

P.S. How many corrections I made in this write up?...... Grrrrrrrr
